Who We Are

PGA Design Build (Paul Gaiser Architects) specializes in high end renovation projects in the Washington, DC Metro area. Most of our work is within a few miles of our Elm Street office, and includes most areas of Bethesda, Chevy Chase, and upper NW DC. We also have done work in the Northern Virginia suburbs of McLean, Arlington, and Falls Church.

Our Process - Ready, aim, fire

We have a very thorough three (3) step for renovation that helps you work within cost constraints at the early stages of the job.

Ready - The Feasibility Phase

Before we design anything, we will measure your existing house and lot. We will draw the floor plans, site plan, and front, side, and rear views of your house so we have accurate information. Our in house CAD (Computer Aided Design) program insures accuracy.

Over the course of 6-8 weeks we will work with you to solve the design problem within a given range of cost. We will present to you the best design solution, and a feasibility estimate (range of cost).

Aim - Construction Drawings

After approval of the feasibility design and costs, we will work with you to specify all materials in the job. We do not want to start construction without knowing all materials and methods. After 8-10 weeks, the construction drawings and specifications are complete. We can now do a material take off and give you an exact price for the job. The construction drawings will be used for permit filing and construction.

Fire - Construction

With all materials preselected and a fixed price contract, we can now begin construction and proceed without delay.

We find this process leads to minimal changes during construction and almost no change in orders.
